Kennebunkport’s recently-restored Community House, overlooking the Kennebunk River, is near Dock Square and is now available for rentals for up to 120 persons for your wedding reception, business meeting, art show or dinner party. The large 1470 square- foot main room has six seven-foot tall windows overlooking the South Church River Green and the picturesque dories on the Kennebunk River. The adjoining 22’ x 22’ parlor library with triple archway to the main room, has a handsome fireplace mantle, antique grandfather clock and desk, and comfortable leather chairs. The room is a lovely spot for an off-season wedding. The historic 1824 South Congregational Church is diagonally across Temple Street from the Community House, and the River Green is the original nineteenth century home of the Clark Shipyard.
The Community House has recently had a $150,000 interior restoration. Three chandeliers hanging from the sixteen -foot ceiling and matching wall sconces can flood the main room with light, and the recessed ceiling lighting, on rheostats, can provide extra lighting for business meetings. Black-out shades are provided for video presentations.
Built in 1929 as the Olympian Club, this gracious building was purchased by the South Congregational Church, UCC in 1965, when the commercial kitchen and two half baths were added.
Alcohol may be served in the Community House for your event by a licensed bartender, and the facility is commercially cleaned after each rental.
Weddings may be performed in the Community House, on the River Green or in the classical New England South Congregational Church.
